Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking an experienced Early Childhood Preschool Special Education teacher (Developmental Preschool) to provide inclusive instruction for young learners with developmental delays within a dedicated classroom setting.

You will plan individualized lesson plans, adapt curricula, collaborate with families and staff, monitor progress, and prepare reports to inform IEP goals while fostering a positive, safe learning environment for diverse students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with preparation for diverse student populations.
• Ability to design and implement instruction for students with special needs.
• Experience with IEP goals and progress reporting is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with families, staff and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Foster an educational environment conducive to learning and maturation; plan instructional programs and adapt lesson plans for individual needs.
• Use appropriate instructional methods and materials aligned with program objectives; pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Establish classroom policies, guidance and discipline to support achievement.
• Collaborate with students, families, specialists, and staff to support student progress.
• Set classroom goals aligned with IEPs and state guidelines; evaluate progress and prepare reports for parents/guardians.
• Direct activities of assigned non-certificated personnel; supervise student support staff as appropriate.
• Collect and interpret data; develop and evaluate IEPs; provide administrative reports as needed.
• Attend required staff meetings and professional development days.
