Job summary

The Butler County Educational Service Center is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Lakota preschool programs in Ohio. Starting August 2026, this full-time position supports special education classrooms, assists with curriculum implementation, and ensures student safety and classroom operations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, an Education Aide permit or eligibility, and relevant paraprofessional/education coursework.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Education aide permit with ESEA designation from Ohio Department of Education, or ability to obtain.
• Complete the examination for paraprofessionals or have an associate degree or at least two years of college study (48 semester hours).
• AA in Early Childhood or coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
• Previous experience working with preschool children preferred.
• Willingness and ability to work as a team member.
• Interest in working with children with disabilities.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and program administrators.
• History of good job attendance.
• Must pass criminal background checks and be free from communicable disease.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an Instructional Assistant in the Special Education Preschool classes.
• Assist in planning, directing and implementing the curriculum and help maintain records.
• Provide active supervision of students and support a child with special needs one-on-one as needed.
