Job summary

Elmcrest in New York seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team supporting preschoolers with disabilities. You will help implement lessons, support daily routines, and monitor progress toward IEP goals in collaboration with the Special Education Teacher.

The role requires warmth, patience, and strong teamwork. NY state TA certification is preferred, and degrees in early education or related fields are welcome.

Qualifications

• Experience with young children.
• Knowledge of child development and developmental milestones.
• Awareness of autism spectrum disorder, sensory integration and behavioral interventions.
• Preferred NYS Teaching Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Support a welcoming, clean and orderly classroom environment and foster high expectations.
• Assist in developing and implementing lesson plans with the Special Education Teacher.
• Provide one-to-one, small group and classroom support; monitor progress toward IEP goals.
• Assist with daily routines, meals, toileting, and classroom activities.
• Maintain records, participate in meetings, and support behavioral interventions.
