Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in early childhood education is required.

Job Description
  • Responsible for supervision and safety of children
  • Prepare materials required to implement daily activities
  • Ensure the general health, welfare, and well-being of each child
  • Assist in lunch preparations and snacks
  • Daily cleaning of classroom and materials
  • Exhibit initiative by demonstrating leadership without being prompted
  • Be an active participant in activities with the children
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, supervisors, and co-workers, providing excellent customer service.
  • Enroll and attend 16 hours of off-site in-service annually. Learn and observe all JCPRD guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Salary: $16.00 per hour.
  • Hours: 15-30 hours per week; flexible schedules vary throughout the day from 7a-6p

Locations: Roeland Park Community Center and various elementary schools in the Shawnee Mission School District.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND one of the following:
  • Associate degree or higher degree in early childhood, child development, or a related academic discipline from a regionally accredited college/university or
  • Technical certificate or diploma in early childhood or
  • Child Development Associate Credential or
  • 3 semester hours of academic study in early childhood, child development, or a related academic discipline & three months of experience in early childhood education providing direct care and supervision to children 3-5 years old or
  • 6 months of experience in early childhood education providing direct supervision to children 3-5 years old

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision.
  • Shows a knowledge and love of working with children.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
