Job summary

Richards Elementary School in Newport, NH is seeking a Preschool Paraeducator (Para I or Para II) to join the early childhood team. You will work with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging environment for 3- to 5-year-olds, guiding social, emotional, and academic development through play and structured activities.

You will support classroom routines, assist with lesson plans, and help manage small groups with patience and energy.

Qualifications

• Experience with young children (ages 3-5) in daycare, preschool, or school setting.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or CDA credential is a major plus.
• Infinite patience, high energy, and genuine love for early childhood development.
• Strong communication and collaboration with the classroom teacher and staff.
• Ability to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher with daily lesson plans and classroom routines.
• Support individual students or small groups to meet developmental milestones.
• Maintain safety and supervision during classroom time, recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Encourage positive behavior and social-emotional learning.
• Prepare the room for the next day and assist with light cleanup.
