Job Description

The Graettinger-Terril Community School District is seeking a caring, energetic, and student-focused Preschool Paraeducator to support early childhood learners in a positive and engaging educational environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the preschool teacher to support instruction, supervision, and the developmental needs of young learners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the preschool teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities.
• Support students in academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth.
• Work with individual students and small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and clean-up.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, meals, and transitions.
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist students with personal care needs as necessary.
• Support implementation of behavior management strategies.
• Communicate effectively with staff and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the preschool teacher or administration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Paraeducator certification or ability to obtain certification as required by Iowa law.
• Experience working with young children preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.
• Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• Successful completion of required background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in early childhood education or childcare settings.
• Knowledge of child development and early learning practices.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
