Job summary

The Independence School, an independent day school serving children from age 3 through 8th grade, seeks an Early Childhood Assistant to join the on-site faculty. You will collaborate with the Lead Teacher to implement age-appropriate lessons and provide individualized support to preschoolers in a dynamic campus setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EC Interim (or higher) certification from the Office of Child Care Licensing is required.
• Preferred coursework in early childhood or elementary education.
• Excellent time management and ability to switch between tasks.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Aptitude to learn new systems, software, and platforms.
• Confidentiality and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Provide a welcoming classroom tone for children, parents, and visitors.
• Assist Lead Teacher with lesson plans and activities for preschoolers.
• Provide individualized attention and support as needed.
• Assist with classroom management and outdoor supervision.
• Support social skills, cooperation, and independence through group activities.
• Attend meetings and pursue professional development.
• Use the 90-acre campus as an extension of the classroom.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
