Position Summary:
Preschool Lead Teacher (for 2-year-olds) to join St. Andrew Early Childhood Center in Apex, NC. The lead teacher will provide a safe, nurturing, faith-filled environment for children in our half-day preschool program while maintaining the overall supervision of students and daily class functions.
Key responsibilities:
- Engage children in socialization and play-based learning that is developmentally age-appropriate and follows the Diocese of Raleigh Preschool Standards.
- Work effectively with an Assistant Teacher and participate in ongoing collaboration and planning with the preschool director and colleagues.
- Document ongoing assessment of each child's developmental progress to differentiate instruction based on student needs.
- Establish positive and effective family relations through ongoing parent communication.
- Attend required staff meetings, workshops, and school functions.
- Complete 10 hours of continuing education per year.
- Attend any meetings required by the Diocese
- Check the class email account same number of days per week that assigned to work
- Notify the Director when absence is necessary
- Minimum level of Education: Early Childhood teachers must have either a bachelor’s degree in early childhood or elementary education or have two years of experience working with young children and have or be in the process of attaining an early childhood credential.
- Minimum years of work experience: Two or more years of previous experience in a play-based early childhood center.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a play-based early childhood center.
- Exhibits great love and patience for children.
- Effective written and spoken communication
- A practicing Catholic preferred with thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith and ability to communicate it to wider audience in both words and actions.
