Position Objective

The position of Early Learning Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for providing an educational and nurturing inclusive learning environment that meets the developmental needs of all children, including those with disabilities, in all preschool classrooms, including multi-language and Early Childhood Assistance Education Program (ECEAP).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Observe and assess children's development.
  • Plan and implement curricula based on assessments.
  • Guide and interact with children during age-appropriate activities.
  • Design and maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that meets Early Achievers standards.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families.
  • Plan and implement guidance strategies.
  • Engage families in planning and activities, including quarterly conferences.
  • Assist families in establishing school readiness goals.
  • Maintain records of observations, assessments, and children's work.
  • Respond to children's needs and communicate with parents.
  • Work with children with diverse needs, including those with special needs.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and work collaboratively.
  • Mediates conflicts and ensures safety protocols are followed.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Building Administrator.

Required Qualifications
  • AA in Early Childhood Education or equivalent approved by DCYF.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children of diverse aptitudes and achievement levels.
Licensing Requirements
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Registration in the state electronic workforce registry (Merit).
  • Completion of Merit background check.
  • TB skin test, Food Handler Permit, proof of MMR or immunity.
  • Completion of required training, including Child Care Basics.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of State Performance Standards, child development, behavior management, and health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, implement curricula, observe behavior, and collaborate with staff and parents.
  • Problem-solving, conflict resolution, confidentiality, and multicultural sensitivity.
  • Physical ability to meet job requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical activities.
Conditions of Employment

Salary range E: $33.07 to $35.02 per hour, full-time, 40 hours/week, 192 days/year. Benefits available after 630 hours worked. Employment contingent upon background checks and legal authorization.
