Job summary

The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation is seeking a Preschool Teacher to guide preschoolers in social, physical, and intellectual growth through engaging activities aligned with the Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS). Hours are 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM, and the role emphasizes a Child First philosophy with a safe, welcoming classroom.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDA or college degree in a related field preferred.
• Certifications: First Aid, CPR, Child Neglect, and Communicable Diseases within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead a safe, clean, and caring classroom where children learn and explore.
• Organize activities to promote physical, mental, and social development aligned with ELDS.
• Observe and evaluate children's progress individually and in groups.
• Create and implement lesson plans using Curriculum and ELDS guidelines.
• Collaborate with parents to foster meaningful experiences for each child.
• Work with co/assistant teachers to maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Maintain classroom, paperwork, and procedures per Ohio licensing and Step Up to Quality.
• Conduct annual classroom and environmental rating scale assessments.
• Complete required Ohio Approved Professional Development hours every biennium.
• Provide diverse materials for learning and imaginative play.
• Greet arriving children and help them settle in with engaging activities.
• Identify emotional, developmental, or health concerns and discuss with supervisors/parents.
• Uphold the Child First philosophy in daily practice.
