Job summary

The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Preschool Cook / Program Support to prepare meals, support classrooms, and ensure CACFP compliance. The role includes menu development, documentation, and collaboration with preschool staff to maintain safety and health standards.

Responsibilities include organizing meals and snacks for all ages, maintaining inventory, and assisting with breaks and staffing needs to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with food preparation, kitchen operations, or food service preferred.
• Experience in child care, school, or similar setting preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain within required timeframe.
• Food safety training (ServSafe or equivalent) required or willingness to obtain within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks following CACFP meal patterns and nutrition guidelines.
• Develop weekly/monthly menus meeting CACFP requirements and program schedules.
• Maintain CACFP documentation: meal counts, production records, and supporting records for audits.
• Ensure health, sanitation, and safety standards in all food prep and service areas.
• Manage food inventory and place accurate orders for review by leadership.
• Coordinate meal service with classroom staff to fit routines and transitions.
