Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant at Holladay Elementary School to support the Early Learning Preschool program. The role requires assisting with instructional activities, supervising students, and helping with classroom operations.

The candidate should have at least 42 semester hours or a passing ParaPro assessment, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work closely with teachers and families in a bilingual immersion environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Sits, talks, lifts, walks, stands and hears during performance of duties.
• General knowledge of classroom practices and techniques; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; operate AV, office and computer equipment; work with teachers, parents, students and administrators.
• Must follow oral and written directions and maintain classroom order independently of the teacher.

Responsibilities

• Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students.
• Provides behavioral support to students.
• Assists with classroom management and behavior modification.
• Assists with field trips and community-based instruction.
• Assists students with personal care tasks.
• Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials.
• Reports student concerns to the teacher and assists with student resolution.
• Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack; including clean-up.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance.
