Brooks Elementary School is hiring a Preschool Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 year. WAIVER Announcement: Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Bullitt County Public Schools is requesting a waiver to fill this position before the standard 15-day posting period to ensure we are fully staffed for the upcoming school year.

Assistant will be responsible for helping the teacher with class instruction and other duties such as working with small groups of children to reinforce lessons, providing one-on-one instruction to students and supervising students in the classroom. Applicant must be a positive, compassionate individual who is passionate about working with young children.

Position Details

Hours: 6.5 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length: 146 days per year

Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status: Full-time with benefits

Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified pay schedule

• Starting Pay (Step 0): $16.46/hour
• Experienced Pay (Step 10): $20.26/hour

• The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.

Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
