Job description

Long-standing preschool is seeking an experienced early childhood educator who can passionately support children’s play, inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking for a teaching position as Head Teacher. Our school is a small, private, non-profit offering a morning program (with extended day) in East Providence, RI. We are an intentional community of dedicated teachers and families committed to a Reggio-inspired approach to teaching and learning.

Strong candidates will have the following personal and professional attributes:

• A dynamic educator who has a passion for engaging young hearts and minds through an emergent curriculum
• 2+ years teaching in an early childhood setting
• Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy
• The ability to provide a variety of learning opportunities, methods, and materials supporting diverse abilities
• A deep understanding of early childhood development
• Thoughtful, respectful, and effective classroom management techniques
• Collaborative work with faculty and clear communication with parents
• Bachelor’s degree with RI teaching certification

Responsibilities include leading a daily group of 18 children aged 3-5, guiding group activities inspired by our philosophy, and creating an environment that fosters love of learning, cognitive growth, and social development.

Additional details: Children stay until noon or 2 pm if extended day is chosen. The school year runs from late August to June, including a 3-week summer camp, with approximately 4 weeks off during the school year.
