Job summary

East Central Ohio Educational Service Center (ESC) seeks a Preschool Educational Aide to support our youngest learners as they begin their academic journey. You will work with students one-on-one, lead small group activities, assist with classroom needs, and help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment aligned with district goals.

Training, supervision, and collaboration with teachers are provided to foster student growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment.
• Criminal background clear for public school employment.
• Experience with school-age children preferred.
• Meets preschool licensing law and annual training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work with small groups and/or individual students per teacher instructions.
• Help students with a wide range of maturity and developmental levels learn skills.
• Offer help when students ask or when behavior suggests need for assistance.
• Support an inclusive environment and help students with disabilities participate in peer activities.
• Encourage creativity using music, art, and play tailored to each learner.
• Supervise non-classroom activities (arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips).
• Assist with behavior intervention plans as directed and with classroom needs.
• Prepare classroom, maintain supplies, and sanitize equipment as needed.
• Perform clerical tasks related to classroom activities and equipment prep.
• Monitor ill students until a parent/guardian arrives.
• Prepare snacks and assist with routine hygiene for students.
• Participate in staff meetings, parent/teacher meetings, and other conferences.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job description

The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a Preschool Educational Aide to work with our youngest students as they embark on their academic careers. As part of the Preschool Program at West Holmes Local Schools, the aide works with students one-on-one, leads group activities, supports classroom needs, and ensures that students receive the appropriate support to have a positive learning experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment
• Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
• Previous experience working with school-age children preferred
• Meets preschool licensing law/annual training requirements

Responsibilities

• Works with small groups and/or individual students according to the teacher’s instructions
• Helps students with a wide range of maturity & developmental levels learn appropriate skills
• Offers help when students ask or their behavior suggests they need assistance
• Supports an inclusive educational environment and helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate peer group activities as directed
• Encourages student creativity using music, art, and play activities that address the learning style of each student
• Actively participates in planned recreational activities and takes precautions to ensure safety
• May assist students with mobility needs and/or assistive or augmentative devices
• Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (i.e., arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips)
• Works with the teacher to address behavior problems; assists with intervention and/or intervention plans as needed
• Helps prepare the classroom, maintain supplies, organize the storage of equipment, and sanitize as necessary
• Performs clerical work related to classroom activities and prepares classroom equipment for use
• Monitors ill students until a parent/guardian arrives
• Prepares snacks for students as required; assists students with routine hygiene
• Participates in staff meetings, parent/teacher meetings, and other conferences as needed
• Performs other duties as required
