Job summary

Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) seeks dedicated classroom assistants to support teachers in Head Start programs across Oregon. You will help maintain a safe, engaging learning environment, assist with observations, portfolios, and family engagement activities, and support nutrition and well‑being programs.

Positions include Preschool Teacher Assistant E-, CE-, C-, and A- with hourly wages from $19.58 to $23.28 in Metro areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for Assistant roles.
• Preschool CDA certificate within 6 months from date of hire.
• Oregon Registry steps as applicable depending on role.
• Enrollment in ECE degree programs may satisfy qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in maintaining a safe, positive learning environment.
• Supervise children indoors and outdoors with positive behavior guidance.
• Assist with setup, organization, cleaning, and inventory of materials.
• Support implementation of curriculum and daily classroom activities.
• Assist with observations, assessments, and maintaining portfolios.
• Communicate health, behavior, and development to the teacher.
• Support family engagement through newsletters, conferences, and home visits.
• Promote healthy practices related to nutrition, wellness, and child development.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.

Education

High School Diploma / GED

Preschool CDA certificate

Oregon community college certificate in early childhood education or child development

Enrolled in associate or bachelor program in early childhood education or child development
