A leading nonprofit seeks an Assistant Teacher for 2-5 year-olds, focusing on nurturing relationships and promoting achievement among youth. Responsibilities include supporting teachers, maintaining supervision ratios, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
This position supports the work of a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Assistant Teacher (2-5 yr. olds) creates positive, nurturing relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall program experience. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the assistant provides direction for children in the classroom and assists in implementing the program curriculum. The role focuses on providing a quality experience to children and parents, emphasizing achievement and belonging in youth and fostering relationships among youth and within families.

Other responsibilities include supervision, behavior management using positive approaches, supporting inclusion and ADA compliance, implementing culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate curriculum, maintaining a safe and clean environment, conducting systematic observations, participating in family and staff events, adhering to safety and regulatory policies, maintaining positive relationships with parents and community partners, and performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
AGE: Eighteen years or older
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
ECE/CD UNITS: Current Child Development Assistant Permit with 105 hours of professional growth every 5 years.
RELATED EXPERIENCE: Assisting in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, experience with diverse populations preferred, ability to develop positive relationships across backgrounds.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, strong communication, emotional maturity.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: Current EMSA or American Red Cross First Aid; CPR for Adult, Infant, and Child; child abuse prevention training; Basic Water Safety; Preventative Health Practices (PHP); measles vaccination and physical exam.
