Preschool Teacher Assistant

We are looking for a Preschool Assistant to join our wonderful staff at the Jewish Preschool of Lexington. A preschool assistant provides support to the teaching staff and performs many leadership, organizational and classroom management tasks to support both Teachers and students.

Responsibilities

• Supervising students in the classroom, the bathroom, the gym, and outside and during transitions.
• Engage with the students at their developmental level, promote independence and higher level thinking through open-ended questions and conversations, and have fun!
• Collaborating with the Teacher to identify students’ issues and recommend solutions.
• Be aware of children’s needs and bring unusual occurrences to teacher attention.
• Consistently utilize classroom/behavior management strategies throughout the day.
• Tracking attendance and child notes.
• Observing state, school and class rules and regulations.
• Helping Teachers with lesson preparation, including collecting materials and setting up equipment.
• Participate in Team meetings.
