  • Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Salary Description: $17.65-$22.36, based on level of education and relative work experience

A Day in the Life as a Preschool Assistant Teacher:

As the Assistant Teacher, you’ll play an essential role in providing all aspects of a quality child development program with emphasis on the cognitive, social and emotional development of preschool-aged children. Your day will involve:

  • Assisting the Lead Teacher in planning and providing quality educational experiences for preschool-aged children by helping to plan and prepare daily and weekly program experiences, considering the needs of children.
  • Engaging in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children’s needs, development, and play interests.
  • Participating in the daily activities planned for the children.

Your role will directly contribute to positive employee experience and efficient operations across the organization.

Qualifications to Be a Preschool Assistant Teacher:

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent credential, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or equivalent; must have Child Growth and Development coursework or equivalent coursework according to NH State Childcare Licensing requirements.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with young children and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
  • Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
  • Technical: Successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
