Job summary

Nova Southwestern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a part-time Preschool Assistant to provide developmentally appropriate social/emotional and learning experiences for young children. The role is non-exempt, hourly, and contingent on external funding; background checks are required.

Responsibilities include supporting curriculum, supervising children, communicating with parents, preparing learning materials, and assisting as a substitute teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
• Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
• Employees must complete within 90 days a CDA or CDA equivalent if no degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Must complete state-mandated Early Literacy trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing and assistance to children in the classroom to ensure a safe, enriching environment.
• Assist in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Supervise children during arrival, dismissal, playground, and lunch.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers to foster positive involvement.
• Serve as a substitute teacher to support students as needed.
• Prepare classroom learning materials and displays.
• Monitor and coordinate activities for enhanced learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
