GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The individual in this position is responsible for working with teachers and administrators to provide support for the HCPS preschool program in all elementary schools. The Preschool Administrative Paraprofessional will build relationships with our preschool families to serve as a home-school liaison to promote parent engagement. This position is a 12-month position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Supports the mission and vision of Henry County Public Schools.
- Serves as parent/school liaison for preschool families.
- Communicates with parents and assists them with needs, including connecting them with community resources.
- Assists in coordinating parent engagement for preschool families.
- Answers and returns parent phone calls.
- Contacts parents as needed regarding their child’s needs.
- Coordinates parent-teacher meetings as needed.
- Assists in coordinating and scheduling monthly preschool meetings.
- Assists in coordinating teacher and assistant participation in conferences.
- Assists in coordinating HighScope training for teachers and assistants.
- Participates in VDOE webinars and conferences as needed.
- Coordinates ordering and distribution of materials for preschool.
- Coordinates and distributes all materials for the VALLS-PreK and the PK VKRP assessments.
- Administers preschool assessments as needed.
- Assists in collecting data for Virginia’s Quality Birth to Five System and assists teachers and parents regarding this initiative.
- Assists in coordinating the application process for preschool enrollment.
- Visits preschool classrooms regularly to observe the implementation of the HighScope curriculum and identify needs.
- Assists in building positive relationships with students while engaging and facilitating learning in a supportive environment.
- Assists with planning parent/child activities at each school.
- Assists with home visits as needed.
- Informs principals and supervisors of any needs in the preschool program.
Additional Duties:
- Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university or passing score on the ParaPro examination.
- Or an equivalent level of education and experience.
- Fluent in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
- Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other District employees and the general public.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. - Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

- Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
Work Environment :
The work is performed mostly indoors, within a specialized classroom environment or in student homes, which may vary widely in cleanliness, layout, temperature, and noise levels. Staff may encounter pets, tobacco smoke, or other environmental variables.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $32,707 to $45,701 Per Year
