Job summary

RRD is seeking a Digital Press Production Supervisor to manage a 24/7 on-site operation. Plan, lead, and coordinate Digital Press and Prepress activities to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

You will mentor staff, help with scheduling, and drive continuous improvement through Total Quality practices. A minimum high school diploma and 10+ years in printing with 1 year of supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must cover and be accessible to multiple shifts, including nights.

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's preferred.
• 10+ years in printing with exposure to large format, digital, and prepress.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead and coordinate all areas of Digital Press Production and Pre Press to exceed internal and external customer expectations in safety, quality, productivity, schedules, housekeeping and employee relations.
• Work to eliminate unsafe behaviors and conditions within the plant; support Safety Training Observation Program daily.
• Maintain positive communication within the department on all shifts and with internal/external customers to ensure production requirements and deliveries.
• Work with management to create training material for continual growth of employees.
• May make recommendations regarding hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and training of Digital Press and Prepress personnel.
• Motivate staff to meet department objectives and maintain timely schedules.
• Determine appropriate manning for each shift and coordinate with other departments to meet quality and production needs.
• Maintain records and documents as assigned; promote Total Quality Program and cross-department collaboration.
• Manage the Prepress Process and team; coordinate with Digital and Offset Print areas as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Description

This Position is on site and manages a workforce that is on a 24/7 schedule. Availability to flex hours to manage the department effectively will be required.

Plan, lead and coordinate all areas of Digital Press Production and Pre Press to exceed internal and external customer expectations in safety, quality, productivity, schedules, housekeeping and employee relations.

Responsibilities

• Work to eliminate all unsafe behaviors and conditions within the plant. Fully support and practice Safety Training Observation Program techniques on a daily basis. Assure the maintenance of excellent housekeeping practices and safety awareness on all shifts.
• Maintain positive communication within the department on all shifts. Communicate effectively with all internal external customers to insure that all production requirements, schedules, quality, and final deliveries of our products are satisfactory.
• Work with other members of Management to create the appropriate training material to facilitate the continual growth of all employees
• May make recommendations regarding hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and training of Digital Press and Prepress personnel.
• Motivate staff in support of department objectives and timely and effective schedules to ensure production goals.
• May be responsible for determining appropriate manning for each shift along with other supervisors, departments and co-workers. Coordinate manning efforts to effectively meet all quality and production requirements.
• Maintain and monitor the completion of all necessary records and documents as assigned.
• Foster the continual use and implementation of the philosophies and tools that are taught through our Total Quality Program. Promote the concept of working together as a team and with other departments to build continual improvement within the company.
• Manage the Prepress Process and team. (The Pre Press Partners with Digial and Offset Print areas but this supervisor is not assigned to the offset print)
• Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

• 10 or more years working in a printing environment with exposure to Large format print, digital print, and prepress processes.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $68,500 - $106,900 / year. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
