Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is seeking a supervisor for on-site Digital Press Production and Pre Press, managing a 24/7 workforce and flexing hours as needed to meet department needs.

You will lead safety, quality, and productivity initiatives, coordinate training, staffing, and cross-team collaboration, while mentoring staff and guiding performance to achieve production goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in applicable field is preferred.
• 10+ years working in a printing environment with exposure to large format print, digital print, and prepress processes.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or lead function.
• Ability to cover and be accessible to multiple shifts, including nights.
• Strong attention to detail and thorough communication.
• Strong team building and leadership abilities.
• Ability to teach and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Eliminate unsafe behaviors and conditions; support Safety Training Observation Program daily.
• Maintain positive communication with internal and external customers to ensure production requirements, schedules, quality, and deliveries are satisfactory.
• Develop training materials to facilitate growth of employees across shifts.
• Make recommendations regarding hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and training of Digital Press and Prepress personnel.
• Motivate staff to meet department objectives and production goals with timely scheduling.
• Coordinate Manning to meet quality and production requirements across shifts and departments.
• Maintain and monitor all necessary records and documents.
• Promote Total Quality Program philosophies and cross-department collaboration for continual improvement.
• Manage the Prepress Process and team (Pre Press partners with Digial and Offset Print; this supervisor is not assigned to offset print).
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Description

This Position is on site and manages a workforce that is on a 24/7 schedule. Availability to flex hours to manage the department effectively will be required.

Plan, lead and coordinate all areas of Digital Press Production and Pre Press to exceed internal and external customer expectations in safety, quality, productivity, schedules, housekeeping and employee relations.

Responsibilities

• Work to eliminate all unsafe behaviors and conditions within the plant. Fully support and practice Safety Training Observation Program techniques on a daily basis. Assure the maintenance of excellent housekeeping practices and safety awareness on all shifts.
• Maintain positive communication within the departmenton all shifts. Communicate effectively with all internal external customers to insure that all production requirements, schedules, quality, and final deliveries of our products are satisfactory.
• Work with other members ofManagement to create the appropriate training material to facilitate the continual growth of all employees
• May make recommendations regarding hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and training of Digital Pressand Prepresspersonnel.
• Motivate staff in support of department objectives and timely and effective schedules to ensure production goals.
• May be responsible for determining appropriate manning for each shift along with other supervisors, departments and co-workers. Coordinate manning efforts to effectively meet all quality and production requirements.
• Maintain and monitor the completion of all necessary records and documents as assigned.
• Foster the continual use and implementation of the philosophies and tools that are taught through our Total Quality Program. Promote the concept of working together as a team and with other departments to build continual improvement within the company.
• Manage the Prepress Process and team. (The Pre Press Partners with Digial and Offset Print areas but this supervisor is not assigned to the offset print)
• Perform other related duties as required

Additional Information

Thesalary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $68,500 - $106,900 / year. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs.Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
