Job Description: The Prep & Recovery Unit RN cares for patients receiving anesthetic care and recovering from anesthesia post-surgery. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, assessing consciousness levels, and observing patients for anesthesia side effects.

Roles And Responsibilities

1. Prioritize patient needs effectively.
2. Evaluate care effectiveness, ensure follow-through, and demonstrate critical thinking in clinical decisions.
3. Perform and document accurate patient assessments.
4. Recognize care priorities and act accordingly.
5. Problem solve and communicate effectively.
6. Cross-trained in prep and recovery roles.
7. Work 3-13 or 4-10 hour shifts, operating from 5 am to 10 pm.
8. Participate in call rotations, including weekday evening call, weekend shifts, and some holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• New York State RN licensure.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS certification.
• 6 months to 1 year of critical care experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS, PALS certifications (opportunity to obtain during introductory period).
• 1-3 years of prep/recovery experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• CPAN certification.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 20 pounds; may involve lifting up to 50 pounds when moving patients.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Location and Travel

• Onsite at 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850.

Compensation

• $38.63 to $47.18 per hour.
