Job summary

The Ruby Slipper Cafe is hiring in Baton Rouge for a kitchen position that focuses on accurate hot-food preparation and precise portioning. You will prep, plate, and garnish dishes, ensuring consistency with our brunch standards.

We value clear communication with kitchen and front-of-house teams, and the role requires standing for long periods and occasional heavy lifting as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and front of house krewe members.
• Be able to reach, bend stoop, and frequently lift up to 50lbs.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
• Complies with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently prepare hot food products as well as prepare and portion food prior to cooking.
• Responsible for performing other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates.
