Purpose

The prep cook is responsible for preparing cooking ingredients, preparing sauces, parboiling food, and preparing simple dishes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare all hot and cold restaurant foods.
  • Prepare prep sheets to include all items that need to be prepared or ordered.
  • Follow prep sheets and communicate with chefs accordingly.
  • Ensure set prep times are met.
  • Properly wrap, label, date, and store all food items on their proper carts to ensure product freshness.
  • Set up, operate, and clean all kitchen machinery/equipment and store it properly.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment maintenance and handling, using only as intended after proper training.
  • Work efficiently with materials and resources, minimizing costs and expenses.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of the kitchen.
  • Read measures, execute recipes, and process computer tickets for service.
  • Apply knife skills required for service and preparation.
  • Maintain menu knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Assist chefs as needed during service.
  • Communicate with management, chefs, and service staff to address guest or employee needs.
  • Move furniture and equipment as directed by management.
  • Comply with safety and health procedures, and all liquor laws.
  • Maintain sanitation standards.
  • Ensure proper checkout procedures.
  • Clean spills immediately and dispose of trash properly.
  • Report any complaints, comments, incidents, equipment failures, or safety hazards.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 18+ years of age.
  • State-required work cards.
  • Minimum one year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of food storage, lifting techniques, sanitation, and safety.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
Working Conditions

Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to various environmental conditions, in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment, with varied shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk and stand for long periods, handle objects, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks such as reaching, climbing, and crouching. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
