Wage Range: $16.00 per hour to $20.00 per hour - experienced based. 5 shifts per week, days might vary based on inventory delivery and prep cook schedule. Shift can be 6:30A-2:30P or 7A-3P.

What you will do;

Under the guidance and direction of the Food Service Director in the Living Community, you are a vital part of enhancing the daily lives of our residents. As a Cook, you do more than just prepare meals; you create moments of joy and comfort by preparing delicious food. Your culinary expertise will not only satisfy appetites but will contribute to the overall well-being of our residents. Each dish you prepare will bring smiles to those we serve. As a stockroom assistant, you will assist in checking in inventory, storing items properly using all safety and sanitation requirements.

Your Contributions Are

  • Review menus and assemble all items needed for preparation.
  • Follow standard recipes and production sheets to achieve nutritious, high-quality, cost-effective meals.
  • Evaluate food preparation and recommend changes to improve operations.
  • Follow kitchen opening/closing procedures and handle food and equipment following sanitation and safety practices.
  • Assist with training new Food Service personnel.
  • Report repairs and maintenance needs to the Supervisor.
  • Meet time deadlines for tray line, cafeteria service, and catering.
  • Utilize progressive cooking procedures to ensure optimum quality products.
  • Utilize appropriate garnishing and food presentation techniques to ensure quality.
  • Follow daily prep and pull schedules as indicated in guidelines.
  • Weigh and measure ingredients for the following day's production, keep food refrigerated as needed, and use proper thawing procedures.
  • Document supply acquisitions when ordering and removing items from the storeroom. Rotate supplies and maintain an orderly inventory.
  • Ensure food safety by following sanitary food handling practices—hot food hot, cold food cold.
  • Follow cleaning procedures for all cooking equipment. Properly store food—cover, label, and date.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical And Sensory Requirements

Requires mobility to stand and walk extensively during shift. Lifting, carrying trays and boxes, pans and dishes up to 25 lbs. Push/Pull food hot boxes up to 50 lbs. Bending, stooping for access to carts, food, trays, and other kitchen equipment. Manual dexterity for using kitchen utensils, dish machine, and tools. Visual acuity for reading menus, labels, and directions. Hearing to respond to verbal communications. Taste and smell to assess food quality, freshness, and dietary adherence. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Ensuring that Cook/Prep Cook meets these physical and sensory requirements is crucial to their ability to contribute effectively to a well-run, safe, and functioning kitchen.

  • Specific education, experience, certifications, or other pertinent info as required by state
  • ServSafe Certification and State Food Handlers Card.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to follow recipes.
  • Basic math skills for receipt conversions.
