Sputnik Coffee is a rapidly growing coffee roastery and cafe based in Chicago, IL. We are here to make craft coffee more affordable and accessible to everyone. A Day in the Life of a Prep Cook includes preparing ingredients, assembling sandwiches based on recipes, cleaning and managing inventory. Functional Description

At Sputnik, we do things differently. We’re looking for a new team member who is hard working, flexible and energized by being part of the process of making delicious sandwiches, waffles, and snacks for our awesome customers.

Responsibilities

1. Open kitchen in the mornings and ensure certain food items are ready to go by 7am
2. Prepare sandwich components and assemble sandwiches based on recipes
3. Prepare waffle batter based on recipes
4. Prepare syrups and various concentrates for cafe use
5. Restock supplies and take inventory
6. Keep everything in the kitchen super clean. Clean tables, refrigerators, equipment, and floors.
7. Clean kitchen, organize and ensure everything is in place for the upcoming morning
8. Work with team to create and develop new menu offerings

Necessary Availability: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm Or Saturdays 6:30am - 3:30pm

Job Type: Full time/Part time

Pay: $18.75 per hour

Minimum availability: 25-30 hours per week

The ideal candidate will be effective in managing their time and prioritizing responsibilities. They will work independently and be flexible as issues arise. While they will have the full support of the rest of the team, they are expected to run the kitchen independently from morning to close. As we are a small business, the Prep cook may need to help out and assist in the warehouse.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with food and preparing delicious items for the local community.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Availability to work a total of 5 days per week, possibility of Saturday
2. Available to start work day at 6:00 am
3. 1 year commitment
4. Food Safety Manager Certification course completion will be required one week after hiring
5. Willingness to learn how to make delicious sandwiches and waffles
