Job Description

1606 Restaurant & Oyster Bar Kitchen is currently seeking qualified applicants for seasonal cook positions

Line cooks prepare and cook a variety of foods to recipe specification. This preparation requires special techniques and care to serve food properly and maintain costs. This position reports to the Head Chef and must be able to work in a team environment.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of foods as directed by menu.
  • Operate standard cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, toasters, fryers, oven, stove, and grill.
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation including all equipment.
  • Assists in preparing entrees and special menus.
  • Secures food supplies from stockroom and refrigerators.
  • Occasionally fill in for other stations as needed.
  • Assist in any kitchen duties such as placing and receiving orders, rotating and taking inventory.
  • Follows recipes based on company standards, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Safe handling of all food including washing, cutting and preparing portions.
  • Maintains sanitation, and cleanliness at all times.
  • Works on preparing orders simultaneously.
  • Restocks workstation and maintain personal and workstation cleanliness at all times
  • Other job-related duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of recent experience in a high volume, full service restaurant preferred
  • Must be able to stand long periods of time without sitting and endure climate changes.
  • Must be able to bend and reach on a continuous basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to use all hand tools, equipment and machines needed for work
  • Must be able to measure and cut with great precision
  • Ensure all products are prepared to company specification
  • Must continuously demonstrate a positive, upbeat and customer-focused attitude
