Responsibilities

The Prep Cook/Porter is responsible for completing all items on the daily preparation list, including, but not limited to, protein prep, vegetables, sauces, dressings, and other food items. This position will ensure the availability of clean dishes by washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, maintaining a clean work area while following health and safety guidelines, and following directions from the chef while using the guidance of the other cooks in the kitchen.

Essential Duties:

1. Follow proper storage and rotation procedures.
2. Assist with keeping the kitchen, floors, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers clean and organized.
3. Assist with washing large pots, sheet trays, and hotel pans.
4. Attend meetings as required.
5. Ensure the kitchen adheres to State Health and Hygiene Requirements as well as Newport Healthcare culinary standards.
6. Assist the chef with receiving daily orders and storing proteins, vegetables, and grocery items appropriately.

Qualifications

1. Three (3) months of restaurant experience preferred.
