Job description

PURPOSE

The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing cooking ingredients, preparing sauces, parboiling food and preparing simple dishes. Pink Taco is looking for a FUN, FAIR, HONEST, HARDWORKING, UNPRETENTIOUS AND UNCOMPLICATED individual with a passion for quality.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare all hot and cold restaurant foods.
  2. Prepare prep sheet to include all items that need to be prepared or ordered.
  3. Follow prep sheet and communicate to Chefs in accordance. Ensure set prep times are met.
  4. Properly wrap, label, date and store all food items on their proper cart to ensure product freshness.
  5. Set up, operate and clean all kitchen machinery/equipment and store it in its proper place.
  6. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and handling of equipment, using only as intended and only after proper training has been demonstrated.
  7. Efficiently work with materials and/or resources being aware of and minimizing costs and expenses.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of the kitchen.
  9. Read, measure, execute recipes, and execute computer tickets for service.
  10. Apply knife skills required for service and preparation.
  11. Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail.
  12. Assist Chefs as needed in execution of service.
  13. Communicate with management, chefs and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and/or other employees.
  14. Move furniture as directed by management, including but not limited to: tables, chairs, bar stools, banquettes, bar tables, boxes, and equipment.
  15. Comply with all safety and health department procedures and all state and federal liquor laws.
  16. Maintain company safety and sanitation standards.
  17. Ensure complete and proper check out procedures.
  18. Clean all spills immediately and place all trash in proper receptacles.
  19. Inform management of any complaints, comments or incidents.
  20. Ensure nightly/weekly and opening/running/closing duties are completed.
  21. Record and report any equipment failure and/or safety hazards to management immediately.
  22. Assist and/or complete additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  1. High School Diploma preferred.
  2. Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  3. Valid Driver’s License.
  4. 18+ years of age.
  5. Possession of or the ability to possess all state required work cards.
  6. Minimum of one (1) year related experience.
  7. Advanced knife skills.
  8. Proper food storage knowledge.
  9. Proper lifting techniques.
  10. Guest relations.
  11. Sanitation and safety.
  12. Full service kitchen operations.
  13. Ability to communicate effectively and assertively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with staff, clients, and the public.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  1. Hourly pay: $17.00.
