Position Summary

A prep cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by assisting in the preparation of ingredients and basic cooking tasks. They support the kitchen team in Concessions and/or Catering by ensuring that all necessary items are ready for chefs to create delicious dishes. This role demands attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Position assists with set-up, dishes, and is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized work space in accordance with company specifications. Must be able to maintain excellent attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $21 to $22.

About the Venue

Oak View Group is the venue manager and food and beverage provider of SoFi Center, a first-of-its-kind venue located in Palm Beach Gardens on the campus of Palm Beach State College. SoFi Center will be the home of the TGL Golf League, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. TGL presented by SoFi is a new golf league, combining advanced technology with teams of top players from the PGA TOUR for two-hour weekly competitions in prime time starting in January 2025. The arena will seat about 1,500 people and feature matches between 6 teams for the inaugural season.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cooking and packaging food product which is prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  • Receives verbal orders from the front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items. Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests.
  • Responsible for portion control and serving temperatures of all products served in the concession stand.
  • Responsible for cleaning, stocking, and restocking of workstations and displays.
  • Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and ovens.
  • Ensures that all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away, and floor is swept and mopped at end of shift.
  • Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
  • Practices professionalism in all interactions with guests and coworkers.
Qualifications
  • 1+ years experience working in a kitchen environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Culinary training or certification is a plus but not required.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
