Description

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company serving the Southeast, dedicated to creating quality culinary concepts from scratch. The company has expanded into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services, providing elevated concessions and premium offerings at collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, and more.

We are currently seeking Prep Cooks to join our team at Mississippi State University. POP provides food services for MSU’s athletic events, special events, and student athletes. This position will assist the culinary department with the daily Athlete Training Table.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and sanitize workstations.
  • Follow prep lists created by lead culinary staff.
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients such as soup stock.
  • Prepare simple dishes as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Ensure proper storage and accessibility of food items.
  • Assist chefs in preparing food and other culinary tasks.
  • Supervise food and cooling room temperatures.
  • Accept or reject ingredients from suppliers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen.
  • Maintain high food quality standards with the culinary team.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation in all kitchen and food service areas.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • At least 1 year of kitchen experience; catering experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain training.

Specialized Skills:

  • Ability to produce consistent products efficiently.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Understanding of food safety practices, including TCS, temperature logs, and cleaning.
  • Ability to plan and multitask.
  • Self-motivated with high energy and strong communication skills.
Work Environment

Work involves event operations, often moving throughout campus and stadium grounds, including in and out of freezers and coolers, utilizing typical kitchen equipment.

Uniform Requirements

Adhere to company uniform policies, including non-slip shoes.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged movement through event spaces and stadiums.
  • Bending, lifting, and carrying equipment and food items.
  • Manual dexterity for operating kitchen tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
