Job description

Ballyhoo Hospitality Group is seeking a talented, hospitality focused Prep Cook to join our thirteenth restaurant and one of many in Glenview.

Concept Overview: Jackman & Co.
A pub at heart, we are a place where people can gather to share exceptional food but still put the world to rights over a great pint. Our food is meant to be enjoyed over laughter and good times. Jackman’s menu focuses on the cooking traditions and practices associated with the United Kingdom. Encompassing global influences due to England’s strong trading history and its’ historical conquests.

Job Summary:

It is the primary responsibility of the Prep Cook to perform advanced cooking procedures to the standards of the Executive Chef. The Prep Cook operates a specific station with others or independently. Allduties are to be performed in accordance with departmental the restaurant’s policies, practicesand procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows recipes and SOP’ when preparing all menu dishes
  • Knowing the proper techniques of cooking seafood, meat and vegetables.
  • Understanding of preparing stocks, soups and sauces
  • Prepares a variety of proteins, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food item, recipes for cooking in broilers, ovens, sous vide, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work all stations in the kitchen time of need.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Related Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm during high volume service or difficult situations.
  • Excellent knife skills
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of culinary experience in fine dining establishments.
  • Prior experience working in customer service.
  • Maintain a ServeSafe Food Handlers certification.
