Job summary

Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar in downtown Hershey is seeking a part-time team member to contribute to its food production and collaborate with the culinary team. You will follow standardized recipes, plate, and assist with inventory while delivering consistent quality across shifts.

Ideal candidates are at least 16, able to pass ServSafe training, and willing to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Perks include Hersheypark admission and parking discounts.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ years old at time of application.
• ServSafe certification or willingness to complete ServSafe training.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food items according to prep sheets and recipes with speed and consistency.
• Regularly clean and sanitize the work area to maintain a safe and clean workspace.
• Prepare, cook, plate, garnish, and expedite food for service.
• Store all food products properly and manage storage and rotation.
• Minimize waste and ensure adherence to recipes and guidelines.
• Maintain communication with front of house for timely service.
• Assist with training newer staff in processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Be part of the opening team at Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar, downtown Hershey’s newest restaurant and bar. Located near the iconic intersection of Cocoa and Chocolate Avenue, Hershey Social features bold flavors, signature cocktails, and over-the-top desserts inspired by Hershey’s chocolate roots.

This position is responsible for the food production of Hershey Social Restaurant and Bar, and assists the culinary team with a variety of tasks.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

• Prepare all food items according to prep sheets and standardized recipes with speed and consistency of quality. Adhere to all food safety guidelines at all times.*
• Regularly clean and sanitize the work area to maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times.*
• Prepare, cook, plate, garnish, and expedite food for service.*
• Store all food products following appropriate guidelines. Organize items in walk-ins and ensure proper storage and item rotation.*
• Minimize waste and ensure product is being produced according to its recipe and guidelines.*
• Maintain communication with front of house staff to ensure timely service to the guests.*
• Assist with training newer staff in processes and procedures.*
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older on the date of applying
• Must be certified or be able to pass a ServSafe class (ServSafe Training – will be provided)

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Average to above knife skills
• Ability to follow and troubleshoot recipes/menu items with little or no difficulty
• Ability to efficiently set up and maintain workstation
• Ability to demonstrate the outlet style of cuisine through food tasting and preparation
• Ability to assist Chef with maintaining accurate inventory levels
• Ability to handle average amounts of prep work and work 2-3 stations with little or no difficulty and minimal assistance
• Ability to work with position, supportive attitude, skill, speed and cleanliness

Job Demands

• Physical requirements include the ability to stand for up to eight hours at a time, walk, bend at the waist and knees and have repeated manual dexterity, and the ability to push, pull, and reach above shoulder level, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance
• Must be able to withstand the temperatures of a kitchen/food stand environment
• Must be comfortable with exposure to cleaning chemicals
• Employee must provide proper footwear (black non-skid/non-slip sneakers)
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with shifts starting as early as 7 AM and ending as late as 10 PM
