Position Summary

Events by RHC is looking to hire experienced Prep Cooks. This role will pay an hourly wage of $20 to $23.

For FT roles: Benefits include Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

About the Venue

EVENTS BY RHC is a boutique off-premise caterer based in New York City. Inspired by international cuisine, modern dining, and exceptional service, we proudly bring a modern take to event dining. The brand is based on knowledgeable and passionate people offering impeccable service, deliciously different menus, and a creative culture.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the Culinary Management team with food preparation as assigned.
  • Ensures stations are prepped and ready for the start of service.
  • Understands kitchen equipment and the operation of equipment.
  • Maintains a clean work environment, including floors and passages.
  • Cleans kitchen and equipment as assigned by the Culinary Management team.
  • Assists in keeping all food storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, etc. clean and organized.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with the standards established by the NYC Department of Health.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience as a prep or kitchen assistant in a high-end, high-volume, fast-paced NYC kitchen (or comparable).
  • Professional work ethic.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to take direction from supervisors.
  • Ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must have excellent knife skills and proficiency in all aspects of cooking.
  • Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and proactively solve issues.
  • Knowledge of Health Department food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, carry up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
