Job description

Location: Hofstra University

We are hiring immediately for a PREP COOK position.

Address: 1000 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: Full & Part Time Schedule: Sunday to Wednesday and Friday. More details upon interview!

Requirement: Previous kitchen experience and/or prep cook experience required.

Pay Rate: $17.55 per hour.

Job Summary: Prepares food and serves customers in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
  2. Prepares items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes.
  3. Completes and follows daily production worksheets and waste log sheets. Tastes completed meals to ensure quality.
  4. Operates and cleans equipment per department procedures after each use.
  5. Stores, labels and dates all food items according to policy. Follows HACCP guidelines.
  6. Completes all required documentation, reports, logs as required.
  7. Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
  8. Takes orders from customers and prepares items requiring short preparation time.
  9. Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner.
  10. Completes orders from steam tables and grill and serves customers at multiple stations.
  11. Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
  12. Resolves customer concerns.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
