Job summary

Brooklyn Brewery Corporation in Brooklyn, NY, seeks a reliable Prep Cook to support a busy kitchen in our Williamsburg-area restaurant/bar. You will work on mise en place, prep sauces, and help set up stations for line cooks.

The role requires basic knife skills, ability to follow recipes, and flexibility to work Wednesdays through Mondays, including evenings and weekends. $18/hour base pay with benefits like 401(k), FSA, and PTO.

Qualifications

• 1 year of kitchen experience preferred, but training is available.
• Solid knife skills and comfort with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow recipes and prep lists accurately and on time.
• Ability to work in high-volume services and events.
• Able to stand for long shifts and work a flexible schedule.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus but not required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, cut, and portion vegetables, proteins, and other ingredients to spec.
• Prepare sauces, stocks, dressings, and mise en place following recipes.
• Label, date, and rotate product using FIFO.
• Set up and stock stations for line cooks before service.
• Receive and put away deliveries, checking quality and quantities.
• Keep work areas, walk-ins, and equipment clean and organized.
• Follow NYC Department of Health food safety and sanitation standards.
• Support the line and dish team when needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

Brooklyn Brewery is a 650-capacity multi-floor restaurant/bar with several bars, private event rooms, and a seasonal rooftop. We cook from scratch every day and are looking for a reliable Prep Cook to help keep our kitchen running smoothly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidates should be comfortable performing a range of tasks and duties, including but not limited to:

• Wash, peel, cut, and portion vegetables, proteins, and other ingredients to spec.

WORK SCHEDULE

Days of Operations: Wednesday - Monday, closed Tuesdays
Variable hours and include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work at a high-volume services and ticketed events.
• Able to stand for long shifts.
• Able to work a flexible schedule across Monday through Sunday work week as needed.
• Keep positive and "how can I help the system" mentality.
• Dependable, punctual, and good under pressure.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

COMPENSATION

The base pay for this full-time role is $18.00 per hour. The base pay is one component of The Brooklyn Brewery Corporation's total compensation package for employees.
