Job summary

Creative Dining Services in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Prep Cook to support the Dining Services team. The role focuses on preparing nutritious, well-seasoned meals safely and efficiently while following recipes and standards.

The ideal candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of food service experience, and ServSafe Certification. We offer competitive pay with bonus opportunities and a benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year food service experience preferred.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food such that all food is ready for use within the established timeframe.
• Prepares food items according to established recipes and menus in a manner that preserves food freshness, quality and appeal.
• Utilizes safe food handling techniques at all times.
• Stores food items according to established standards of practice; label and date.
• Holds prepared food items at appropriate temperatures (below 40° for cold, above 135° for hot).
• Maintains established logs (food temperatures etc.).
• Maintains a clean and sanitized work area.
• Communicates needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor appropriately.
• Monitors kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report any discrepancies to supervisor immediately.
• Supports other kitchen employees in assuring that essential functions of the kitchen are performed appropriately.
• Assists in ordering and inventory procedures.
• Removes refuse as needed.
• Puts away/pulls stock as needed.
