Job description

OVERVIEW

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply to a Food Service Worker opening within the University's Dining Services Department.

  • With full benefits
  • Full Time, 12 months out of the year
  • Work directly for the university, not a food service company

Compensation for the position: $17-19/hr

The University of St. Thomas offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits program, which includes:

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in the food preparation of meals in back-of-house or front-of-house operations
  • Interact with customers and prepare customized, made-to-order menu items in a high-volume environment
  • Prep food throughout shift and assist all culinary staff in completing prep sheet
  • Set up/close down open line workstation for service
  • Follow ServSafe food handling guidelines and maintain a clean work station

Schedule and Location:

This position will largely work on the St. Paul campus and have a schedule of 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm and will largely be Monday through Friday, but will also include some weekends; the schedule will largely be dependent on business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least a year of experience with food preparation, ideally in an institutional setting
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is a condition of employment for all Dining Services positions

This position is designated Emergency Essential. Emergency Essential employees may be expected to remain at work if campus closes during their regular work schedule or to report to work if the campus-closing announcement is made before their regular work schedule begins.
