Job summary

Eataly in New York is seeking a Prep Cook to assemble cold items and ingredients for our kitchens. You will wash, slice, and portion ingredients, support pizza, panini, and dessert preparations, and maintain clean stations in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of kitchen experience, solid knife skills, and basic math ability. Onsite work with flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays helps drive our guest experience.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of kitchen experience.
• Basic math skills.
• Good knife skills and finger dexterity to use small tools and utensils adeptly.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of cold food items and ingredients for restaurant kitchens.
• Wash, peel, slice and mix vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses and other ingredients for salads, cold plates, and entrees.
• Clean all utensils, preparation equipment and counters used in production.
• Follow recipes and portion sizes, maintain quality standards and comply with health regulations.
• Prepare pizza alla pala, panini and desserts according to specific recipes.

Job Description

A Prep Cook prepares a variety of cold food items and all prepared ingredients that will be distributed to the kitchens to be cooked for restaurants. Reports to the Cafe Manager and Cafe leads

• Washes, peels, slices andmixvegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses and other ingredients for salads, cold plates, side dishes,entrees,pizzaanddesserts.
• Cleans all utensils, preparation equipment and countersrequiredfor production
• Performs other duties asrequiredor assigned
• Prepares pizzaallapala, panini and dessertaccording to specific recipes
• Follows recipes andcomplies withportionsizes, quality standards, department rules and procedures and Department of Health regulations

Job Requirements

• Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Ability to lift up to 50 poundsand exert well-paced mobility
• Ability to spend up to 8 hours standing or walking in a kitchen and restaurant environment
• Ability to work with commercial equipment including stand mixers, ovens, torches, etc.

Compensation: This position pays a base rate of $17 - $19 per hour.
