Job description

As a Prep Cook You Will:

  • Conduct oneself in a high-paced kitchen environment.
  • Prepare craft food.
  • Follow and adhere to strict recipe guidelines.
  • Problem-solve on the fly.

Specific Job Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with Executive Chef to direct food preparation.
  • Produce high-quality products considering both design, taste, and suitability.
  • Keep stations clean and comply with food safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve the kitchen’s performance.
  • Sample Sprout food and beverages regularly to ensure quality, uphold our standards, and develop your palate while educating yourself about our ingredients and their story.
  • Assist with any required job activity of the business to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and in accordance with Sprout’s overall service philosophy.
  • Be passionate about the planet and help us achieve our company-wide sustainability goals.
  • Uphold and follow all health, food safety, and safety guidelines.
  • Promote a safe and respectful working environment.

Compensation:

  • Average Earnings: $16-22/hr

Requirements:

  • A flexible schedule and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in large batch cooking.
  • Existing Food Handler’s Certification required for Maryland, or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire.
  • Teamwork is a must!
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push/pull, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces as needed.
  • 18+ years of age.
