Job summary

Citarella - The Ultimate Gourmet Market in New York is seeking To Go Associates to prepare and maintain hot bar, cold bar and salad bar areas, ensuring adherence to Citarella recipes and food safety guidelines. Monitor temperatures, portions and presentation during service hours to keep items fresh and appealing.

You'll prepare items, ensure quality, replenish stock, label and rotate products, and keep stations clean while delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in kitchen or food service preparation.
• Prior grill, sauté, or related kitchen station experience.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and follow Citarella recipes.
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
• Strong communication/interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness and ability to learn about Citarella products.
• Ability to perform physical requirements including standing for extended periods, lifting and moving items.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

• Monitor food levels and replenish items in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper dating, labeling, rotation, and storage of product.
• Maintain clean and organized work stations and surrounding areas.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and display standards in compliance with Citarella policies and food safety handling procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Other reasonably assigned duties as per business need.

Role Overview

To Go Associates are responsible for the preparation and ongoing maintenance of all hot bar, cold bar, and salad bar areas. This includes ensuring that all food items are prepared according to company recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. They must consistently monitor food temperatures, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure freshness and visual appeal throughout service hours.

• Prepare food items for To Go bars including hot/cold bars, salad bars

• Ensure proper dating, labeling, rotation, and storage of product
• Maintain clean and organized work stations and surrounding areas
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and display standards in compliance with Citarella policies and food safety handling procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Other reasonably assigned duties as per business need

Minimum Qualifications

• 1+ year experience working in a kitchen or food service preparation role (restaurant/catering/hotel experience is preferred)
• Prior grill, saute, or related kitchen station experience
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment
• Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor
• Ability to visually examine products for quality/ freshness and execute product batches per Citarella standards/recipes
• Ability to work both independently as well as with a team

• Ability to perform physical requirements of position including standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, able to lift, carry, push and pull weights
