Oregon City, OR has a current opening for a

The Prep Cook assists the Chef and Dietary Manager to prepare and serve meals as specified in the menus and recipes prepared by the dietician, using proper food handling, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare simple dishes, such as salads, entrees, snack and desserts;
- Undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food;
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking;
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal preparation tasks;
- Review and know resident diet needs;
- Perform routine kitchen tasks;
- Use the prepared preparation list for planning purposes;
- Monitor food/equipment temperatures;
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves to be organized and easily accessible;
- Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes;
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash;
- Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly;
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines;
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned; and,
- Assist and support Dietary Manager, Chef and Administrator as required; AND anything that helps staff coordinate consistent quality care and service in the facility. Other items as required by Administrator and/or anything else that is needed to keep the facility operating smoothly.

Requirements
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school degree, or equivalent, required
- Previous experience as a busboy, washer, waiter, cook, or relevant work experience preferred
- Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to lift 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Manual dexterity necessary to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks
- Ability to comfortably withstand heat, steam and cold present in kitchen environment
