Job summary

The Peaks Care Center is hiring a dedicated Prep Cook to join our team on a part-time basis. You will prepare and serve meals in accordance with approved menus, ensuring nutritious options that meet dietary guidelines for residents.

We value safety and quality in every dish, and you will support a clean, organized kitchen while following all sanitation standards. Prior healthcare food service experience is preferred, with ServSafe certification recommended.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience as a Cook preferred.
  • Healthcare/skilled nursing home experience preferred.
  • ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain timely meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Review daily menus and event calendars to confirm ingredients and supplies.
  • Prepare meals that are nutritious, visually appealing, and aligned with dietary needs.
  • Follow standardized recipes and substitutions only when authorized.
  • Serve food with proper portion control.
  • Assist with preparing special meals for events and celebrations.
  • Estimate portions and manage leftovers to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Adhere to sanitation, storage, and recordkeeping regulations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Keep cooler and freezer spaces organized and compliant.
  • Complete daily cleaning tasks to uphold sanitation standards.

Now Hiring: Prep Cook - Part time
About the Role:

We’re seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team and help deliver high-quality, nutritious meals to our residents. In this role, you’ll prepare and serve food in accordance with approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines, ensuring delicious and safe dining experiences for all.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain timely meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Review daily menus and event calendars to confirm necessary ingredients and supplies
  • Prepare meals that are nutritious, visually appealing, and consistent with residents’ dietary needs
  • Follow standardized recipes and make substitutions only when authorized
  • Serve food using proper portion control methods
  • Assist with preparing special meals for events and celebrations
  • Accurately estimate portions and manage leftovers to minimize waste and control food costs
  • Adhere to state and county regulations regarding sanitation, food safety, storage, recordkeeping, and chemical handling
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., steamer, oven, grill, meat slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher)
  • Maintain organized, clean, and compliant cooler and freezer spaces
  • Complete daily cleaning assignments to uphold sanitation standards
