Job summary

Mystic Café in Lewiston aims to hire a motivated Prep Cook to join our culinary team. This role emphasizes a strong work ethic, problem-solving, time management, and a teachable attitude to deliver quality guest experiences.

The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support a teamwork-centric environment, and help maintain clean and organized kitchen areas while following recipes and reporting equipment needs to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a reputable restaurant or hotel that is culinary and hospitality driven.
• Must be motivated and teachable with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
• Team-oriented with a calm demeanor during time-sensitive tasks.
• Able to communicate effectively and respectfully.
• Flexible with scheduling including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of all types of food items while following recipes.
• Work as a team player.
• Assist in cleaning the kitchen area, equipment, refrigerators, freezers, and storage.
• Advise supervisor of kitchen equipment repair or replacement.
• Label and store cooked food properly and check menu amounts.
• Submit food usage reports and report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Other related kitchen duties as assigned by a supervisor.

The ideal prep cook candidate will:

• Assist in preparation of all types of food items while following recipes
• Work as a team player
• Assist in cleaning the whole kitchen area, kitchen equipment, refrigerators, freezers, and storage area
• Advise supervisor of kitchen equipment repair or replacement
• Properly utilize, store, and label cooked food and food items
• Check computer printout for menu amounts and recipes. Report any discrepancies to supervisor. Submit food usage report to supervisor.
• Any other related kitchen duties as assigned by a supervisor.

• Prior experience in a reputable restaurant or hotel that is culinary and hospitality driven

About Us:

Mystic Café is grounded in Lewiston, ID, history. Located in the 1926 Morgan Bros. Coffee Roasters building on Main Street, Mystic incorporates the original hardwood floors, beams, and bricks walls to create a distinctive and engaging dining atmosphere in our newly expanded space. We feature seating for up to 200 in four unique dining areas, with seasonal outdoor seating.

Mystic Café offers a casual menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a formal menu for dinner, featuring seasonally crafted specials with high-quality and thoughtfully sourced ingredients.
