Job description

We are looking for an experienced Prep Cook to work with our pastry team. Health, dental, and vision insurance are offered after 60 days of full‑time work (minimum 30 hours). After one year of continuous full‑time employment, we provide two weeks of paid vacation at the employee’s regular rate of pay.

Job Purpose

Tiny Boxwoods Productions prep cooks care deeply about our culture and will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction. The prep cook prepares food to the specifications and standards set by the Executive Chef and is expected to prepare food and set up stations in a fast, quick‑paced hot environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Passion for food
  • Knowledge of the food menus
  • Organize timing of food preparation for service
  • Control inventories of food with minimal loss
  • Safely handle and hold food at correct temperatures
  • Prepare correct amounts of food based on instructions from the Executive Chef
  • Restock line with prepped items
  • Assist chefs in creating standardized recipes for all prepped items
  • Basic knife skills
  • Help maintain recipe books
  • Assist in putting away orders and daily organization of the kitchen
  • Adhere to sanitation, safety and food regulations
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station
  • Perform to company standards and expectations
  • Clear communication and teamwork
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing tasks effectively and quickly
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Be consistent and dependable

Working Conditions

The incumbent will be working in a restaurant setting, on the floor with guests, in the kitchen and dish area. Potential hazards include cuts, slips, trips, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.

Physical Requirements

Stand/walk for long periods of time. Regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and constantly move around in the kitchen. Must be able to chop quickly and consistently.
