Overview

The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food according to hotel standards. He/She ensures the timely and accurate preparation of food items for the line, pantry, or main kitchen production area.

Responsibilities
Fundamental Requirements
  • Ensure the quality of food prepared.
  • Prepare food orders following established recipes and menus.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and kitchen areas.
  • Keep the kitchen organized to facilitate high-volume production.
  • Handle and store food in a sanitary manner.
  • Recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meats.
  • Coordinate with the Chef/Sous Chef for banquets and special orders.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Understand and follow the requisition process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Previous culinary experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Flexible with long hours sometimes required.
  • Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand throughout the shift.
  • Able to withstand temperature variations, hot and cold.
