Job summary

The Quechan Indian Tribe of Fort Yuma is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join the casino's culinary team at Quechan Casino Resort in Winterhaven, CA. This part-time position focuses on supporting high-volume food preparation in a fast-paced gaming environment.

Under supervision of the Sous Chef, you will follow recipes, maintain cleanliness, rotate stock, and assist in daily kitchen operations. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to food safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintains high standards of cleanliness of kitchen utensils, counters, and equipment.
• Follows recipes and standard procedures for food preparation and storage.
• Checks prep list and inventory to determine daily needs.
• Rotates product and ensures proper dating and storage.
• Operates kitchen equipment correctly and safely.
• Communicates effectively with co-workers and guests to maintain a positive work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cooks to join our esteemed culinary team within our casino's food and beverage department.

Qualifications: Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Sous Chef, maintains the highest standards of cleanliness of all kitchen food preparation utensils, counters, containers, serving, cooking equipment, and common areas. Precisely follows recipes and instructions regarding food preparation, presentation, and storage.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Consistently maintains the highest standards of cleanliness of all food preparation, including utensils, counters, and common areas in the kitchen.
• Follows recipes utilizing standard recipes when preparing each product.
• Ensures production of prep items, checks prep list, and inventory on hand vs. projected needs to determine what items are needed for the day.
• Ensures product rotation i.e. check walk-ins, shelves and new product received daily.
• Ensures that old and new prepped and un-prepped product is clearly marked with dates and rotated such that old product is issued and used first.
• Ensures proper storage of product.
• Maintains and operates equipment properly.
• Maintains a good communication with co-workers and guests and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of one year prep cook experience, large volume prep cooking preferred. Must be 18 years of age. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, random drug and controlled substance abuse tests, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license in Arizona and California. Tribal preference given to enrolled tribal members.
