Job summary

Sodexo at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX is seeking a part-time Prep Cook to join our campus dining team. You will help prepare and serve fresh menus and keep work areas clean, while contributing to a welcoming dining experience for students and staff.

This role offers flexible hours, on-site teamwork, and the chance to develop culinary skills with ongoing training. Prior kitchen experience is helpful but not required, and we value reliability, adaptability, and a positive attitude in

• Experience in kitchen or food service preferred.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety standards.
• Able to work in a fast-paced campus dining environment.

Responsibilities

• Reads recipes and assists in preparing hot or cold foods.
• Cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment.
• May handle basic cooking tasks (e.g., vegetables, chicken for salads).
• Attends scheduled shifts on time and with reliability.
• Performs other duties as needed for the unit.

Employment Type: Part-time

Pay Range: $11.00 - $13.00

What You’ll Do: As a Prep Cook at Sodexo, you are a pair of helping hands and a good mood motivator. This role includes the preparation and serving of our vibrant menusand ensuring all working areas are kept clean and tidy. Your welcoming customer service puts a smile on people's faces and makes an impact in their everyday lives.

Responsibilities include:

• Reads recipes and/or product directions and assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods using a variety of kitchen utensils/equipment
• Clean and sanitize work stations and production equipment
• May have basic cooking responsibilities, i.e., cook vegetables, chicken for salads.
• Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.
